One survivor has been found from the wreckage of a military aircraft that crashed in Algeria, an emergency services official told state radio.

"We have found a survivor and the search continues," Colonel Farid Nechad said on Tuesday, Al Jazeera reported.

Al Jazeera has learned that the lone survivor was taken to a hospital in Constantine, where the plane was scheduled to land.

The plane, a C-130 Hercules aircraft, was reportedly flying "in poor weather conditions" and crashed into Djebel Fertas mountain shortly before it was to land in Constantine, the report said.

The cause of the crash could have been bad weather conditions, according to preliminary information, local daily newspaper Elkhabar reported. According to the newspaper, 119 people were killed in the crash.

The plane was heading to the city of Constantine located in the north western part of the country, according to military sources, RIA Novosti reports.
