Turkey and Iran will create a joint free economic zone, Turkish Deputy Economic Minister Ibrahim Shenel said, Sabah newspaper reported on Dec.12.

Currently the two countries work on the project for creation of the free economic zone, according to the deputy minister.

Turkey and Iran can create a free economic zone, Turkey's Minister of Development Cevdet Yilmaz said earlier.

Ankara and Tehran have good relations in all spheres, but the economic sphere lags behind others, according to the minister.

"Relations in the economic sphere between Turkey and Iran are below the two countries' potential," the minister said.
