The draft law on oil spill was developed and will be presented to the Parliament in the near future, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Rafael Mirzayev said during the workshop on “International Regimes for Claims and Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage caused by Oil Spill on the Sea” organized jointly by OSCE Office in Baku and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to him, this draft law will contain the division of responsible organizations. Mirzayev noted that there was a corresponding specialized organization at the Ministry of Emergency Situations for combating oil spill: “By renewing the soviet-period equipment, the Ministry of Emergency Situations works towards the quickest prevention of the threats in this sphere”.
