Azerbaijani Embassy in Syria is working according to normal schedule. The embassy sources said that the consulate staff has regular contact with the Azerbaijani citizens living in Syria.
“We tell them that they can leave the country anytime they wish. The embassy will help them. But the situation is not so bad that our citizens want to leave”.
The consulate service of the Azerbaijani embassy registered 80-90 Azerbaijani citizens living in Syria. Most of them are the students and the Azerbaijanis married Syrian citizens.
Al-Jazeera reports about the continuation of unrests in Syria. This morning the Syrian security forces opened fire on the demonstrators in the central part of Damascus. Eight people were wounded. Unrests in Syria began in March. According to the UN reports, more than 2200 people were killed in the clashes.
