Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier (France), Robert Bradtke (U.S.) and Igor Popov (Russia) visited the frontline areas to observe monitoring of the contact line between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops on Tuesday. The co-chairs made a statement for the press in Barda.
French co-chair Bernard Fassier said as it was noted by the presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries in their joint statement it is high time to accept the basic principles on the settlement of the conflict. "We met with President of Azerbaijan and discussed the settlement of Karabakh conflict. We will leave for Khankendi and then for Yerevan to continue the talks toward the coordination of basic principles".
U.S. co-chair Robert Bradtke said often thoughts about the possibility of restoration of war between Azerbaijan and Armenia sounded recently. "Everyone should know that we advocate only for peaceful solution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem. This conflict will be ended peacefully through the cooperation between the sides".
Russian co-chair Igor Popov stressed that like U.S. and France, Russia also supports peaceful understanding between the sides and fulfills its commitment in this direction.
The co-chairs left Barda for the occupied village of Garvand of Aghdam region, where monitoring should be conducted.
The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk are planning to cross the contact line during the monitoring.
