President of Czechia Vaclav Klaus and his spouse Livia Klausova visited Wednesday the Baku Slavic University (BSU).
First President Klaus and his spouse met rector of BSU Kamal Abdullayev who briefed them on the history, activity and international relations of the University. The rector noted more than 50 students study the Czech language and literature in BSU.
Abdullayev expressed confidence the Czech President`s first official visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to development of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
Then, President Klaus met the University`s teaching staff and students.
The President expressed satisfaction with his first official visit to Azerbaijan. The Czech leader noted during the visit he held fruitful discussions with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev. He praised the political relations between Azerbaijan and Czechia. The President underlined the business forum held Tuesday in Baku would contribute to boosting bilateral economic cooperation.
President Klaus also underlined the necessity of development of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. He expressed assurance his visit would give an impetus to expansion of relationship between the two countries in all spheres.
Then, the Czech President answered questions of teachers and students. He signed the University's Guest book. The President and his wife made conversation with students in Czech language.
President Klaus and Mrs. Klausova also familiarized themselves with the Czech Language and Culture Center in BSU. He donated several books to the Center.
