A series of visits by Azerbaijani officials to Egypt have been postponed due to recent events in this country, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt Shahin Abdullayev told Trend.

Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov was expected to visit Egypt in the first days of March. A delegation of 42 representatives of the ministry and youth organizations was supposed to accompany Rahimov. It was expected to hold Days of Azerbaijani youth in Egypt and have negotiations with officials of the country.

On March 8-9, Cairo was expected to host the fourth meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which was expected to be attended by a large governmental delegation led by co-chairman of the commission, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev. The meeting, which was postponed on the background of recent developments in Egypt, also planned a thematic exhibition.

The holding of the next summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference, at which Azerbaijan was to be presented at a high level, also postponed at a later date. The summit was planned to take place in mid-March.

The Egypt visits of Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Communications and II Minister Ali Abbasov, Caucasus Muslims Office head Sheikhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, scheduled for February, were also canceled.
