Interview with a Afghanistan and Karabakh war veteran, head of the Azerbaijan-Denmark friendship society, Elkhan Huseynov.

You are familliar with Armenia's current Defense Minister, Seyran Ohanian. You, if not mistaken, studied with him in the Azerbaijani Higher Military Command College (today known as Higher Military Academy named after H. Aliyev)...

Yes, in fact i studied there from 1980 till 1984. Ohanian however studied there from 1979 until 1983. I did know him, we sometimes talked. Azerbaijanis never had that hate towards Armenians back then. Some Azeri Armenians had it already - today, i understand that. I remember first time meeting him, while still being a student. At that time I was to enter the college, and there was another guy with me, Musa Musayev. He was from Zagatala region, very simple man. Later on, he died in Afghanistan. Anyway, one day we were sitting, smoking, and Ohanian along with some other Armenian approaches us.

Ohanian started asking Musayev about who he was, why he wants to enter the college, etc. Musayev, of course, answered. After that, Ohanian started insulting him, saying things like "You? A military commander? Don't make me laugh, go back to your village, buy yourself some sheep, get a wife, and live your life!". The bastard was laughing, although a lot of Azerbaijanis at that time were entering Military colleges.

Did Ohanian study good?

You know, I should point out, that Ohanian did not have any friends among Azerbaijanis. Only Armenians and Russians. As a student, he was mediocre. When he graduated, they sent him to Germany, as a lieutenant. Since abroad were only sent those, who graduated with a golden medal (which Ohanian did not have), he simply gave a bribe, and went there. We had this Armenian physics department chief, professor Akopian, who took bribes, and solved these kind of questions. Also, there was a girl, named Natella, whom Ohanian tried to "be around" with...

Once we were on the post together, and he was screaming his lungs off about Baku having a Nakhchivansky military school, Tbilisi having a school of Leslidze, and Erevan doesnt have anything like that. He also used to say, that Baku has 2 military colleges, Tbilisi has one, and Yerevan doesnt have any. I mean, even back then his chauvinistic intentions were clearly visible.

Who is Seyran Ohanian today, in your opinion?

Well, on one hand he is Armenia's Defense Minister. On another hand - a ruthless murderer. Thanks to him thousands of azerbaijanis, tatars, jews and lezgins who lived in Azerbaijan are dead. He is among those who made the Khodjaly genocide possible. Also, i might add, that not everyone in Armenia blindly considers him a hero, when he speaks infront of students and schoolkids. This particular "hero" was raised in Azerbaijan, he studied here, and he chose his path as a military commander. And then he turned on those who were with him back to back - he became a simple killer. Among Armenian military men he is the only one.

The only one? What about other Azeri Armenian military?

There were a lot of Azeri Armenian soldiers, yet none of them came close to such hatred towards Azerbaijanis as did Ohanian. I've known Armenians that left Baku, cursing Ohanian and his look-a-likes.

And then Ohanian ended up in Karabakh...

Yes, he came to power in the 366 motor-rifle regiment, where he was a deputy commander. He gathered all the Armenians, and took the power into his own hands. You know how he fought? He established the so-called fighting groups, and used the sudden attack methods. Didnt spare a soul. It was Seyran Ohanian's fault that an Azeri woman with a cut throat was extending her hands towards her own stabbed child. This kind of thing happened in the Yukhari Veysalli village of Fizuli region. Drunk russian soldiers were allowed to rob, to steal...

You also fought in the Karabakh war...

Yes, for example, during the Khojaly events, I was the head of the Intelligence in the Interior Ministry. Once, during the monitoring missions on the frontlines, I asked a Ukrainian officer (who was a member of the OSCE group from the Armenian side) about Ohanian. He said he doesnt shake Ohanian's hand when they meet, because his hands are bloody up to his elbows. I didnt get him, asked to explain. He told me about the Khodjaly, and that the mission knows all about it. We were in Terter, when this talk was taking place.

Ohanian will answer for all the bad things he has done. One day, he will. No man can calmly live, knowing that due to his orders hundreds and thousands of innocent women and children were slaughtered. Slaughtered for only one thing - they were Azeris. He does have a "way out" - a suicide, yet not to save his honor. He doesnt have any. But to escape all those people whom he brought so much pain. And all these people want one thing from him - payback.
