The PACE Observation mission for November 7 parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be headed by Belgian deputy Paul Villi, Chief Delegate of Azerbaijan to PACE Samad Seyidov said.
On October 19, PACE’s long-term mission will arrive in Baku, analyze pre-election situation after several meetings. Seyidov noted that other observers who will observe the elections directly will arrive in Azerbaijan on November 5-6.
Answering question on whether PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Joseph Debono Grech and Pedro Agramunt Fon de Mora comprised the observation mission or not, Seyidov said that this issue had been reviewed within the framework of session of the organization held in Strasburg: “The list has been confirmed generally. But the practice shows that some changes occur until the elections, someone can not come, someone sends other person instead of himself. And that is why now we may say only the name of the mission’s head. It is early to speak about members of the mission”.
Seyidov noted that 20-25 PACE representatives will observe the elections. Note that, Villi headed PACE observation mission during constitutional referendum held on March 18, 2009 in Azerbaijan.
