The visit mainly aims at signing an agreement on state border and an agreement on the rational use of water resources of the Samur River, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Azerbaijani media outlets on the threshold of the visit.
“Undoubtedly, economic cooperation as the foundation of our partnership is very important in all summits, in any negotiation, despite the crisis, which, of course, affected our trade and economic ties. Now the situation has substantially improved and the trade turnover is on the rise. There are also good investment projects that are successfully implemented in industry, transport and the banking sectors. I am confident that the presidents will view state of affairs in this area and will give political impetus to those or other areas of our cooperation as necessary," Lavrov said.
He said the sides will also discuss humanitarian ties.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on Sept. 2-3, RIA Novosti reported quoting Kremlin press office as saying today.
