On July 21, the Ministry of Justice held a meeting to sum up activities of the Penal Service (PS) in the first half of 2010.
The meeting was attended PS head, heads of departments, as well as senior officials of the Ministry.
The event was opened by Deputy Minister of Justice, the head of the Penal Service, Justice Lieutenant-General, Nazim Alakbarov. He summarized the activities of PS in the first half of year and said that there had been improvements in prison conditions, ensuring the rule of law in the service, strengthening the discipline and removing defects.
As a result of complex measures, 284 criminal incidents have been prevented, more than 100 prohibited items, including 103.5 liters of fluid necessary for the manufacture of alcohol, and 36 mobile phones have been revealed and withdrawn. During this period, 52 facts associated with drugs have been defined and 79.9 grams of drugs were withdrawn. 103 crimes were disclosed thanks to cooperation with other law-enforcement agencies of the country.
