The meeting of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) held June 21, decided to send a mission composed of 30 persons to observe the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, PACE President Mevlud Cavusoglu said at the news conference held under the structure's summer session's meeting.
"We have received an invitation from the Azerbaijani government to take part in the next parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan as observers. Today, the Bureau meeting decided to send an observer mission of 30 persons to Azerbaijan to monitor the parliamentary elections. In this connection, will be established a commission to observe the elections. In addition, the structure will establish the observer mission of 5 people, who will arrive in Azerbaijan a month before the election. Fair, transparent and democratic parliamentary elections would mark a decade of Azerbaijan's membership in the structure," Cavusoglu said.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in fall 2010. Previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections are held according to the majority system in Azerbaijan's 125 constituencies.
