Journalist and blogger Ibrahim Rashidi (Savalan), who peacefully struggles for national rights of Azerbaijanis in Iran, was arrested in Ardabil, Yashar Hakkakpour, human rights activist of the Committee on Azerbaijani Political Prisoners said.

Journalist and blogger Rashidi, who went missing since June 14 in Iranian city of Ardabil, later called his relatives to say that he was arrested by the intelligence agencies of the Iranian secret service (ETTELAAT) on June 17. Rashidi said to his family that he was arrested in the Sareyin Duragi district in Ardebil.

A month ago ETTELAAT intelligence agents seized books and manuscripts from house of the journalist's father. Earlier, the journalist was repeatedly arrested and imprisoned. Last month 45 activists of Azerbaijan were arrested in Iran, 17 of which are in prison, and 28 were released on bail.
