Mayor of Turkish city of Bursa Shahabeddin Garprut has commented on a ban on Azerbaijani flag in the Turkey-Armenia football match held in Bursa on Oct. 14, the Turkish embassy said.
"The Azerbaijani flag is as dear to the Turkish people as Turkey's flag. Besides, the Turkey-Armenia football match was organized by FIFA," the mayor said.
"The Turkey-Armenia football match was organized by FİFA and we had to adhere to common rules and principles," the mayor said.
The Mayor's Office also denied a ban on the Azerbaijani flags saying that about 238 Azerbaijani flags were waving during the match in the stadium.
