Milli Medjlis of Azerbaijan decided to hold a referendum in Azerbaijan about changes to the Constitution with 100 voting for, 7 aghainst and 1 abstaining against 2 not taking part in voting.

According to Day.Az, the decision was adopted after discussions in the parliament.

Under the draft law, the referendum will be held on March 18 of 2009.

At today's session of the parliament the deputies launched discussion of the issue of conduction of a referendum on changes to the Constitution of Azerbaijan.

According to Day.Az, the draft solution says that in case deputies agree to hold a referendum, he might be held on March 18 of 2009.

The discussions on the referendum issue will continue in the second part of the Milli Medjlis session and voting will be held on their results.
