On Thursday Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, received the delegation led by Senator Roberto Castelli, the Italian Justice Minister.

At the meeting President stressed that bilateral relations were successfully developing. Mr.Aliyev remembered his official visit to Italy in 2005 and noted that during the negotiations in Rome the sides discussed development of the bilateral cooperation in different fields, Trend reports.

"The dialogue between Italy and Azerbaijan is intensively held in different levels," Aliyev added. The President voiced hope that the current visit of Castelli would make its contribution into development of the Azerbaijani-Italian cooperation.

In his turn, Castelli highly appreciated the bilateral relations and expressed assurance in the further development of the bilateral cooperation.

Castelli handed over the letter by Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Primer, to the Azerbaijani President. "The visit of Aliyev to Rome stimulated development of the bilateral cooperation. Commission of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will serve as proof of the positive development of the economic and political sphere in Azerbaijan, as well as success for energy sector, where Italian companies also participate. Italy is always ready to assist to Azerbaijan in integration to Europe," the letter says.

Berlusconi also writes that Italian companies were interested in investment to Azerbaijani economy.
