While the long-awaited presidential meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenia is nearing, Yerevan repeats its "traditional" scenario demonstrating lack of will for achieving peaceful end to the suspended Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The Armenian armed forces again aggravated tension on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops on November 30 killing two Azerbaijani soldiers on the frontline.

Servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army, ensign Fariz Novruzov and soldier Elshan Ismayilov have been killed on the contact line of troops on November 30, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

The ministry said the Military Prosecutor's Office carried out investigation to reveal the reasons of the incident that revealed that Novruzov was killed by a ricochet bullet fired from the Armenian side.

Ismayilov was killed during the diversion by Armenian armed forces on the contact line.

The defense minister signed a decree conferring posthumous Medal "For Distinction in Military Service" third degree upon the serviceman.

The ministry extended their deepest condolences to the martyr’s family and close ones, promising a "results" to aggressive Armenia for the killed soldiers.

Another Azerbaijani soldier got injury as a result of the Armenian sabotage on the same day.

The ministry stated that Armenia is trying to escalate the situation even further in order to use the complicated military-political situation in the region in their advantage.

Reiterating that Armenia’s military-political leadership bears full responsibility for the renewed escalation on the line of contact, the ministry once again warned that this provocation will not be left unanswered and the retaliation will be crushing.

The situation on the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia has remained tense as the Armenian armed forces shattered ceasefire about 100 times throughout the day.

Despite calls by the international community to abide by the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Yerevan ignores them deteriorating situation even more.

At a time when the international mediators make efforts to organize a meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents for discussing ways on reaching peaceful solution to the long-standing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenian troops intentionally escalate the tension on contact line.

This once again proves Yerevan's interest in keeping the status quo and occupation of Azerbaijani territories. This is the major reason for attempts to disrupt peace talks with all means.

Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a fragile ceasefire in 1994. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities. Since the war, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. Armenia continues the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal.

Peace talks brokered by mediators from Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
