Two Azerbaijani soldiers were injured as a result of ceasefire violation by the Armenian armed forces, the press service of the Defense Ministry told Trend.

Soldier Nurlan Hasanov, born in 1995 and conscript of Barda region, was wounded as a result of fire opened by the Armenian Armed Forces. His health state is satisfactory.

Also ensign Anar Naghiyev born in 1989, conscript of Gazakh region was wounded as a result of fire from the Armenian side on the night of July 3 and 4. His condition is assessed as serious.

Following the ceasefire break, the Armenian side was silenced with return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.

The armed forces of Armenia broke the ceasefire on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian armies in numerous positions 37 times last night, the Defense Ministry to Trend.

The Armenian Armed Forces opened fire at the Azerbaijani positions located in the village of Gizilhajili of Gazakh region from the positions located in the Berkaber village of Armenia`s Ijevan region.

The positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in the Aghdam village and the nameless heights of Tovuz region also took fire from the Armenian positions located in the Mosesgeh and Chinari villages of the Berd region.

The Armenian side opened fire at the Azerbaijani positions in the Kemerli village of Gazakh region from the positions located in the Doveh village of the Noyemberyan region.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces also took fire at positions located at the nameless heights of Jabrail and Goygol regions and near the Merzili, Yusifjanli, Shuraabad, Nerminli, Bash Gervend of Aghdam region, Ashagi Veyselli, Ashagi Seyidahmedli of Fizuli region, Qizil Oba village of Terter region, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Tapgaragoyunlu of Goranboy region.
