The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement will be discussed at the European Parliament in Brussels, the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region said on March 27.

Chairman of the coordinating council of the community Orhan Akbarov has today left for Brussels to participate in the "round table" on "Future of the South Caucasus : the impact of economic initiatives for the peaceful process in the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict". He will deliver speech at the organized event.

Along with this event, several meetings on the communities' activity in the settlement of the Armenian- Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be held as part of the visit to Brussels.

The event was organized by the European Geopolitical Forum.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the
liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
