Georgia will open consulates in the Azerbaijani city of Ganja and the German city of Frankfurt in the near future.

"A decision to open the consulates in these cities has already been taken," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on December 11. Certain procedures must be held in this regard, the ministry added.

Mamuka Blavadze was appointed as the consul to Ganja.

As for the consul to Frankfurt, the ministry expects the relevant documents from the German side. Afterwards, a consul will be appointed.

Ganja is the second largest city in Azerbaijan and located in the west of the country, 345 kilometres from Baku.

Presently Georgia has 61 diplomatic missions in abroad.
