OSCE Office in Baku works closely with all government agencies in the areas of protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan, head of OSCE Office in Baku Koray Targay said on Dec. 9.

He made the remarks speaking at the round table meeting, held in the parliament of Azerbaijan (Milli Majlis) on the theme "National legislation and goals emanating from the National Program for Action to Raise Effectiveness of the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan". It should be noted that the action plan was approved by the Decree of the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev on December 27, 2011.

Targay said that the OSCE Office in Baku monitors different areas in Azerbaijan. The shortcomings discovered during the monitoring are solved by the state through cooperation. But there are issues that require more time.

There are standards in Azerbaijan that surpass the OSCE standards, thanks to the success achieved today in this country, Targay added.

"ASAN service centres really are a very good example of this. Similar institutions exist in many countries, but they are not as perfect as in Azerbaijan," Targay stressed.

Targay added that Azerbaijan has achieved great successes.
