The declaration of the 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit was adopted on Nov. 29, website of the Lithuanian Presidency of the European Union Council said.
The declaration, adopted by the EU and Eastern Partnership countries leaders, said that great changes were achieved over the last two years in the various spheres of Eastern Partnership, namely visa regime simplification, transportation, energy, education and youth, environment and development of civil society.
Cooperation relation, which is important for the partner countries' populations, will further continue.
In the joint declaration the EU and Eastern Partnership countries strongly stated that close cooperation in the spheres of strategic importance will continue. The goals, set for the years to come, cover the development of democracy, securing of respect towards human rights and continuation of reforms in the legal sphere.
The main attention will be paid to the implementation of the Association Agreement with corresponding countries.
The development of a liberal visa regime remains on agenda as one of the main issues. Energy cooperation will be strengthened and energy cooperation will be created in the energy sphere for the Eastern Partnership participants to gradually integrate in EU's energy market.
It should be noted that on Nov. 29 the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius hosted the European Union's 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit, which was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The Eastern Partnership, which covers six countries, including Azerbaijan, is an initiative of Poland and Sweden aimed at improving relations with the CIS countries as part of the European Neighbourhood Policy. The first summit of Eastern Partnership was held in May 2009 in the Czech capital of Prague and the second was hosted by Warsaw in September 2011.
