Geomagnetic storms are expected to hit the Earth in the next three or four days.

Solar outbursts took place on Sun's surface earlier on Feb. 25, according to Namig Jalilov, head of Solar Physics and Solar-Terrestrial Relations Department of Shamakhi-based Tusi Astrophysical Observatory of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The outburst occurred at 04:40 and decreased at 05:03, continuing for a total of 23 minutes.

The department head said another outburst, which occurred on Feb. 8 on the Sun weakly influenced the Earth's magnetic field. He went on to add that the current outburst was much stronger.

The solar outburst that took place on Feb. 25 is the strongest over the past two years, as well as over the last eleven-year cycle of solar activity.

The outburst source was on the east side of the solar disk, and the plasma flow was not directed toward Earth, Jalilov said.

The scientist added that geomagnetic storms and disturbances will impact the Earth in the next three or four days, but their effect can not be predicted in advance, since the outbreak was not directed towards our planet.
