Latvia's capital city Riga hosted an exhibition of Azerbaijani artists entitled "Oriental Tale" on July 10-15.

The event held in R?gas Dome was co-organized by Arts Council Azerbaijan, Arts Council Latvia, Azerbaijan's Culture and Tourism Ministry, "Youth Network" Organization, as well as Municipality of Riga and Azerbaijan's Embassy in Latvia, Arts Council Azerbaijan said.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held within the framework of "Riga - European Capital of Culture". It was attended by representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in the country, employers of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Latvia, Riga City Hall officials and figures of culture and art in Riga.

The theme of the exhibition was a reflection of national elements of cultural and creative heritage of fine arts of Azerbaijan in modern painting.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Latvia, Elman Zeynalov spoke about the current level of development of cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia.

Representative of Arts Council Latvia, Alla Jevaltovska attached special significance for the exhibition. She said thanks to the exhibition, Latvian and Azerbaijani artists met again to reaffirm existing contacts, establish new relationships and discuss creative plans.

Head of Arts Council Azerbaijan Dadash Mammadov said works by artists presented in the exhibition, were put on display during "Oriental Tale" held in an open creative platform of the gallery "Art Villa" in Baku. The interactive creative activities involved not only traditional reproduction in painting of natural light and air, but also works of artists in outdoors, outside confined areas.

The exhibition put on display works by Intigam Agayev, Irina Eldarova, Eldar Babazade, Dadash Mammadov, Aydin Asgarov, Intigam Jafarov, Hijran Alioglu, Bahruz Kangarli, Rahim Gashimov, Zohrab Salamzade, Nazim Babaev, Vugar Ali, Fakhri Abbasov, Farida Garayeva, Gunel Ravilova, Eldar Hasanov, Aisha Maharammova, Lala Huseynova, Teymur Garibov, Gunduz Hunlar, Leila Altunay and Elvin Pashayev.
