Works by acclaimed Azerbaijani artists were displayed at an exhibition in Sotheby's Art Auctions in London on March 27-April 1.

Pieces of art by Tahir Salahov, Mirnadir Zeynalov, Aida Mahmudova, Tofiq Javadov, Aydan Salahova, Togrul Narimanbeyov, Javad Mirjavadov, Faiq Ahmed, Rashad Alakbarov, and Rauf Mammadov were presented at the "At the Crossroads 2: Contemporary Art from Istanbul to Kabul" exhibition, reflecting Azerbaijan's ancient and abundant culture.

These 10 exhibits portray the development and diversity of Azerbaijan's arts in the past 50 years.

Azerbaijani contemporary art is being presented at famous salesrooms for the second time.

A follow-up to the 2013 selling exhibition "At the Crossroads: Contemporary Art from Caucasus and Central Asia", Sotheby's pioneering exhibition features 60 contemporary artworks from Central Asian Republics - Iran, Turkey, and Southern Caucasus.

Radical Soviet-era paintings of the 70s and cutting-edge contemporary arts from Afghanistan have also taken part in the exhibition.

The showpieces reflect the ways in which artists from across the region have responded to the shifting political, social, and economic landscape, drawing inspiration from their ancient cultural traditions.

"At the exhibition, artists showed how art brings different countries together," curator of the exhibition Suad Garayeva said.

She noted that this year's show extended its range of coverage, involving artists from countries such as Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan.

The selling exhibition is sponsored by PASHA Bank.

The auction house Sotheby's has a long history from appearing in March 1744 as a books seller to the leader auction, selling the best jewelry and works of fine and decorative art nowadays. Its history also reflects the history of global art market, full of amazing facts and events.
