A ballet based on the symphonic mugham "Rast" will be held next week at Azerbaijan's State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Baku.

Organized by Azerbaijani proclaimed Maestro Niyazi, the ballet would be begin on February 1. The two-act mugham-ballet "Rast" is a vast choreographic canvas built on the historical subjects from the history of Azerbaijan.

Analysts say, wonderful symphonic music by Azerbaijani prominent composer Niyazi and the original choreography along with spectacular design will certainly make the ballet an outstanding event for Baku.

The story of a woman-heroine Tomris, who rebelled against the invaders and expelled them from her native lands by the sword and her female wisdom is the main story of the ballet.

The play draws on the magnificent folk music mugham performed by the leading opera and ballet theater singers.

Spectacular scenery and costumes will create a touching aura of the performance.

The ballet will be staged by the Azerbaijan's People's Artist of Azerbaijan Tamilla Shiraliyeva.

The author of the libretto is journalist and critic Ajdar Hajiyev, and the art director is the Azerbiajan's People's Artist Rafis Ismayilov.

Azerbaijani People's artist, Professor Yalcin Adigozalov will conduct the performance.

Azerbaijani People's Artists Kamilla Huseynova, Gulagasi Mirzayev, and Azerbaijani Honored Artist Elena Skomoroschenko will also glare performing the main parties.

The genre of the symphonic mugham was created in 1948 by Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov. The genre is featured with the music that kept the dramaturgic moving line, gradual development principle in ascending order, and at the same time symphonic features.

Symphonic mugham "Rast" was created by the well-known composer and conductor Niyazi in 1949 basing on the traditional ancient mugham "Rast", which is considered as the mother of all mughams.
