An extraordinary art exhibition titled "PLAGIAT" was held in the Centre of Modern Art in Baku on January 26.
The event, which was fundamentally different from the kind of activities organized in Baku to this day, brought together young Azerbaijani artists, who were completely unknown.
Each artist selected one or more world famous paintings, and drew the same painting, bringing in it something different - it can be as adding some ironic details, so a complete change of a character or an object in the original painting, but at the same time preserving the most of the atmosphere and recognizability of the composition.
The exhibition was organized within the "I love Art" project.
Among a large number of works presented at the exhibition, the legendary Black Square by Russian painter Kazimir Malevich was the most popular painting. Someone breathed new life into it using colored blobs, and another artist turned the painting, changing its geometric shape into a diamond.
Parody of the Edvard Munch's famous painting titled "Scream" attracted special attention of the attendees. As many people know, the original character on the canvas screams seeing the sky sharply painted in a blood red, and because he was unable to overcome the moral exhaustion. However, in the parody painting man shouted for another reason - poor guy just contrived to lose his ears.
On the second floor of the gallery visitors found "a room with a surprise". Here everyone could write their opinions about the exhibition on the colorful stickers and then stick them on the wall.
The "I love Art" project, is a huge web community that unites art lovers not only in Azerbaijan, but also worldwide. Web page of the project shares dozens of works by contemporary artists, sculptors, illustrators, and world famous art work of the past centuries each day. Along with well-known paintings, the web page represents drawings of self-taught amateurs from around the world, who want to share their creativity with the worldwide audience.
