Works by Azerbaijani composers, including “Mugam-Poem” by Fikrat Amirov, “Rondo” by Jahangir Jahangirov, “Poem” by Ertogrul Javid, as well as "Suite" for string orchestra by Sardar Farajov, and "Capriccio" by Dadash Dadashov will be improvised in the 11th International Contemporary Music Festival “Europe-Asia” to be held on April 5-7 in Kazan, in the Republic of Tatarstan, in the western Russian Federation.

The opening of the festival to take place in the S. Saidashev State Concert Hall, will see performance “Metamorphoses” by Chairwoman of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan, People`s Artist, Professor Frangiz Alizade.

At the invitation of the Chairman of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan, the People`s Artist of Russia Rashid Kalimullin, secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Composers, Honored Artist Sardar Farajov will participate in the festival as a guest of honor.

Compositions of Azerbaijani composers will be performed by Medina Shahgeldieva (kamancha) and Sevinj Kerimova (piano).
This festival has been held in Kazan approximately every other year since 1993, attracting numerous outstanding musicians, composers and performers from Kazan and other cities in Russia and other countries–in Europe, Asia and America.

The present Festival is dedicated to the 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan, which is a very important event for the Republic of Tatarstan and Russia as the whole. The music by composers from 15 countries will be performed at 7 concerts of the festival.
The artistic director and inspirer of the Festival is the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Union of Composers, the Chairman of the Union of Composers RT Rashid Kalimullin.

By tradition the Festival will be opened by a symphony concert. It will be held on 5th of April in the State Big Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev with the participation of the Kazan State Chamber Orchestra “La Primavera” under the guidance of Rustem Abiazov.
On 6th of April there will be concerts of chamber music. The concerts will be held in the concert halls of the Kazan Music College named after I.V. Auhadeev, exposition hall of the National Museum of Tatarstan, in the hall of the House of Peoples` Friendship, on 7th of April the matinée will be held at the Union of Composers of the RT and the Chamber Hall of the State Big Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev.

The festival will end with Gala Concert on 7th of April in the State Big Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev. The festival will also see performances by musicians Franziska Welti (Sweden, soprano), DuoEgo (Switzerland, the duo Monica Danielson, mezzo-soprano and Per Sjogren, drums), piano duo “East-West” (Rustem Kudoyarov, Russia and Sabrina Zelich, Croatia), duo "Rahat" (Turkmenistan, Serdar Haydarov, tuyduk and Rovshen Nepesov, piano), ensembles from Kazakhstan and Vietnam, Orchestra "New Music" directed by Anna Gulish.
