2012 has been declared as "Akhundzadeh's year" by the International Organization of Turkic culture TURKSOY in connection with the 200th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani philosopher, founder of the national drama, a prominent social figure, Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh.
A proposal was put forward by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and was approved, the ministry told Trend on Monday. An action plan for "Akhundzadeh's year" is being developed at a high level in all TURKSOY member-countries. The opening ceremony of "Akhundzadeh's year" is planned to be held in TURKSOY headquarters in Ankara in January 2012.
