167,300,000 tons of cargo and 1,100,000,000 passengers were transported in Azerbaijan in 2007.
The due announcement was made by chairman of the State Statistical Committee Arif Veliyev at a press conference today.
He said the volumes of cargo and passenger transportations rose by 14.9% and 8%, respectively, as compared to 2006. A.Veliyev announced that 16.7% of cargo was transported by railroad, 48.9% by motor transport and 28.3% by pipelines.
At the same time, 84% passengers were transported by motor transport and 15.3% by underground.
67.9% of cargo and 83.9% of passengers were transported by private transport means.
