In March of 2008 Azerbaijan will initiate liquidation of energy debt to Turkey, which formed in the 1990s, when Turkey was supplying electric energy to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as reported by vice president of Azerenerji Marlen Askerov who added that the second energy distribution line is currently being laid between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Turkey.
"We plan to return the debt step by step. Turkey will receive about 10-15 MW per day", he announced.
Azerbaijan's debt to Turkey for electric energy supplied to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic makes up $157 million.
