Alan Bryden, Secretary-General of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will be visiting Azerbaijan on March 1-2 at the invitation of Azerbaijan State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents.

Agency told APA that within the scope of the visit, the secretary general will have meetings at the Cabinet, Economic Development, Foreign Affairs, Industry and Energy, Emergencies and Defense Industry Ministries and SOCAR.

On March 2, a roundtable in Baku will be attended by representatives from government bodies, US, French, German, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Russian, British and Japanese embassies, UNDP, USAID, GTZ, Asian Development Bank and other agencies. The event is aimed at discussion of problems and prospects of standardization in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan has become a full member of ISO since 2003. ISO promotes the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity.
