The amount and price of Russian electricity supplies Azerbaijan is importing in the second quarter can be reconsidered, said Azerenergy Vice-President Marlen Asgarov.

"Azerenergy and RAO UES agreed on the parameters for the first quarter. The price and volume will be reviewed. It is up to the discussion whether the status-quo will remain or not," he told the APA.

As per January 16 agreement between Azerenergy and Russia's RAO EES (Unified Energy Systems), Azerbaijan is importing 200 to 250 megawatts of electricity (some 1bn kilowatt a year) in peak consumption hours at a final price of 3.636 cents per kilowatt, close to 3.6 cents in 2006.

Azerbaijan imported 0.7bn kilowatts of Russian electricity in 2006.
