Azerbaijan's trade surplus in 2006 amounted to $1.107 billion, up 650% from previous year, State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev told a government annual meeting on Monday.

In 2006 Azerbaijan's foreign trade amounted to $11.637 billion, up 36.1% from 2005. Exports reached $6.372 billion (up 46.6%), imports - $5.265 billion (up 25.3%).

Aliyev said that growth in foreign trade meant that the State Customs Committee increased payments to the budget by 37.2% to AZN 515.9 million. APA
