Azerbaijan's trade surplus in 2006 amounted to $1.107 billion, which is 650% more than in 2005, State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday.
"In 2006 Azerbaijan's foreign trade amounted to $11.637 billion, which is 36.1% more than in 2005," he said. He said that exports last year amounted to $6.372 billion (up 46.6%), imports - $5.265 billion (up 25.3%). Aliyev said that growth in foreign trade meant that the State Customs Committee increased payments to the budget by 37.2% compared with 2005 to 515.9 million manta (2.1% over target). Interfax
