Construction of Baku ring road project has commenced. The preliminary cost of the 21.5km road is estimated at US$49.5m.

The ring road is going to join the roads from Baku to Russian border, from Baku-Alat-Gazakh to Georgian border and from Baku to Iranian border.

The six-track road will be 22.5 meters in width. The project will be funded by Kuwait Fund, Abu Dhabi Fund, and the Government of Azerbaijan and will be implemented by a contractor – Mak-Yol Korpi JV set up by Turkey's Mak-Yol Inshaat Sanaye ve Ticaret and Kuwait's Korpi, a subcontractor -Azerinshaatservis LLC. Six road bridges and two pedestrian tunnels will be built on four crossings.

The construction will be complete within 25 months. APA
