European Union considers Azerbaijan alternative energy source and plans to improve cooperation in this field, said spokesperson for the European Commission Ferran Tarradellas.
He told APA that EU was seriously interested in oil-gas resources of Azerbaijan. He noted that Azerbaijan could join Nabukku project through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum project to deliver energy resources from South Caucasus and Middle Asia to Europe. Rumania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Turkey participate in Nabukku project, gas pipeline in length of 3300km. The project is worth $5.8 billion. The construction of pipeline will start in 2008 and expected to be operational in 2012.
