January 16, Azerbaijan and Russia intend to sign an electricity deal in Baku after coming agreement on the amount and price of electricity imports for 2007, the Cabinet told.

Russia is going to export 200 to 250 megawatts of electricity (some 1bn kilowatt a year) to Azerbaijan in peak consumption hours at a price of 4.1 cents per kilowatt, compared to 3.6 cents in 2006.

Azerbaijan also raised the price of electricity being sent to Russia at nights to 1.70 cents from 1.58 per kilowatt, APA reports.
