Amid the sharp increase of energy prices as well as utilities fees in Azerbaijan, the Government said it would continue to provide the set amount of kerosene for internally displaced people (IDP) who have no gas.

Chairman of the Cabinet's Special Department on work with Refugees, IDP and International Organizations, Gurban Sadigov, told APA that the Government will pay the utilities fees for the IDP, as before. Additional money will be allocated to make payment.

Sadigov said that the 2007 Budget didn't blueprint additional expenses, so the Government is seeking for a financial source to use for this purpose. "The Government wants to obtain the resources from the State Oil Fund and Stabilization Fund to compensate for the additional expenses."

The spokesman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDP, Sanan Huseynov, told APA that the price rise wouldn't affect provision of displaced people with kerosene and that the Finance Ministry will deal with the increase of financial resources coming from the State Budget.

The Committee provides monthly 40 liters of kerosene for 87,100 internally displaced families each from October through March every year.
