Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev met with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mrs. Fatma al-Zakhra on June 30.

H. Babayev lingered around economic reforms in Azerbaijan being carried out under the guidance of President Ilham Aliyev. Minister said that Azerbaijan achieved rapid economic development due to the effective reforms, with the country being one of the world's leading nations in economic development rates. According to him, favorable business environment raised the foreign investors' interest in Azerbaijan, facilitated the influx of investments. Social sphere received AZN 5.4 bln of investments which exceeds by 12.7% that the same period last year.

H. Babayev noted that Azerbaijan intensively integrates itself into the world economy, saying there are great possibilities for strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Egypt, AzerTAg reports.

H. Babayev said Azerbaijan is rich in natural and labor resources. According to him, active cooperation between Egyptian and Azerbaijan businessmen will be of mutual benefit for both countries.

H. Babayev stressed that invitation of Egyptian businessmen to Azerbaijan within the framework of the meeting of the intergovernmental joint commission for economic, technical and scientific cooperation scheduled for Autumn is expedient for enhancing ties between business circles of both countries.

Mrs. Fatma al-Zakhra noted that her country shows a great interest towards Azerbaijan and keeps a close eye on ongoing economic reforms in Azerbaijan. She pledged to make every effort to further expand economic contacts.

Egyptian deputy FM highly assessed Azerbaijani side's proposal to organize bilateral meetings of businessmen.

The meeting focused on the issues of further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
