Representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia and BP to meet on Wednesday in Baku to discuss the security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC).

As Turkey's Hurriyet informs, according to President Aliyev, each country in its territory should take the responsibility for the security of BTC. "They may, within the disposal of state, take all measures to ensure the security and effective work of BTC," Aliyev told.

The security of the pipeline is ensured at various levels, said Aliyev. BP as the operator of the pipeline possesses all opportunities for ensuring the technical security and containment of the pipeline. On spec raids and inspections and being carried out via SCADA system, satellite connection, electronic methods of ensuring security.

From time to time, meetings are held to discuss these questions. In Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, special services have been created which takes responsibility for the security and coordinate the work of force bodies. Therefore, meetings are held to exchange views.

There are enough efforts of damaging the containment of the pipeline for the purpose to steal oil. Therefore, the security of the pipeline should be on the focus of attention and an information channel should be created. Besides, central bodies should cooperate with local organs to collect information, told Aliyev.
