Disagreement between LLC Barmek Azerbaijan Energy Network and the Government of Azerbaijan will not affect energy provision of population.

Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev has told in press conference today, APA reports.

The Minister has told that the problems appearing in the arrival of technical equipment ordered by Huseyn Arabul from abroad for his company has no connection with Economic Development Ministry. He has said that Arabul should solve his problems with authorities.

"Confiscation is not our job. We were concerned with their energy network only. We try to make company administration commit obligations."

Mr. Babayev has also stated that the company administration has no attempts to facilitate work of the Commission formed at the Ministry to inspect the activity of Barmek. The Company has responded only 4 of 40 questions put before Barmek.

"But they say that we have responded all questions on our website. You may look at it. We think to have sessions of the Commission open for media when it intensifies its activity. Who is right will be known then. Arabul wants to cause tension making use of agiotage in media. But they cannot disturb Azerbaijani Government and Economic Development Minister. After consideration of documents, the Commission will announce its decision. I want to say to citizens to come to the Ministry if they incurred losses from Barmek."

Touching Barmek's claim against the Government for the compensation of $291 million, the Minister has said that it is Barmek that owes money to Government, not the Government.

Saying that Arabul has sued at Arbitrage Court, Babayev has given explanation to the statement of Arabul that he is going to close down his enterprise on June 30. If so, then power stations under the authority of Barmek will be given back to Bakielectricshebeke.
"We can choose another company taking samples in practice."

I Deputy Economic Development Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, who is one of administrators of the Inspection Commission, mentioned that Barmek must pay for whole amount of energy beginning this year, as stated in the contract between Barmek and Azerbaijani Government.

"According to the Contract, Barmek bears the commitment to pay 50% of energy first year, 55% second year, 60% third year, 75% fourth year and 100% fifth year, that is this year."

Mr. Jabbarov said that one of the main obligations of the company relates to right collection of fees. He said that Barmek collected AZN22,8 million, twice less than sold energy of AZN44,7 million.

"If they do not work correctly, then it is not fair to blame the state. Though Barmek is a foreign company, it was founded on the base of OJSC Bakielectricshebeke, as stated in the Contract. Consequently, the Commission will focus on rightful anxiety of the Government."
