The Georgian defense minister, Iraklii Okruashvili provided information about major expenditures of the Georgian defense ministry in 2005, speaking at the ceremony commemorating 15th anniversary of Georgian armed forces in military base in Senaki.
The military budget reached 366, 7m lari ($203, 72m) last year- 153, 9m lari was spend on infrastructure building, 100m lari on personnel, 93, 9m – on operative expenditures, 18, 9m technical, 83m – salaries, 10, 6m – food, 5, 7m –uniforms and ammunition, Trend reports. A step-by–step grows of salaries of military personnel took place last year, now average salary is from $390 to $840. A number of important military trainings also took part last year, the minister said. They include; Armament -2005, Fire fist, Mtkvari 2005.
