By April 1 of the current year, the number of legal entities engaged in business activities in Azerbaijan grew by 1.7% in comparison with the beginning of the year and reached 71,476.

As APA informs, the number of enterprises and organizations in many fields of the economy increased in I quarter. This increase was particularly observed in the fields of production and distribution of electricity, gas and water (3.8%), building (3.2%), transport, storehouse economy and communication (2.7%), mine extraction industry (2.4%), processing industry (2.1%) and education (2.1%).

The number of special-purpose enterprises in the country increased as a result of development of the non-oil sector, increase in volume of capital invested in this sector, expansion of liberalization of the economy of the country, provision of soft credits to small and mid-size entrepreneurship, assisting local and foreign businessmen with implementation of various projects in the center and regions and the number of registration units registered in the State Register was 74.2%. 16.5% of registration units were state-owned enterprises, 3.9% municipalities and their enterprises, 5.4% foreign enterprises and joint ventures.

Main part of private enterprises and organizations operate in the field wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars, household things and things of personal use (41.2%), agriculture, hunting and forestry (15.7%), provision of communal, social and personal services (10.4%), operations on real estate, provision of services to lessees and consumers (9.2%), processing industry (8.2%), and building (7.9%). The state’s share exceeds 50% only in the fields of production and distribution of electricity, gas, and water (87.9%) and education (64.1%). Over 50% of all enterprises and organizations in other fields operate in the non-state sector. This indicator is higher in the fields of agriculture (91.9%) and trade and service (89%).

It was added from the Committee that 33.5% of 1237 enterprises established in the reporting period were created in the fields of wholesale and retail trade, repairs of cars, household things and things of personal use, 15.6% in building, 10.6% in operations on real estate, provision of services to lessees and consumers, 9.5% in agriculture, hunting and forestry, 8.9% in processing industry, 8.7% in provision of communal, social and personal services. 40.9% of 45 abolished enterprises and organizations operated in the fields of operations on real estate, provision of services to lessees and consumers, 31.1% in wholesale and retail trade, repairs of cars, household things and things of personal use, 11.1% in building, 8.9% in agriculture, hunting and forestry.

87.5% of registered enterprises are private, 4.9% state-owned, 7.5% enterprises with 100% foreign capital and joint ventures, and 0.1% owned by municipalities.
It should be noted that in January-March 59.2% of new enterprises started operation in Baku, 11.9% in Aran, 5.9% in Nakhchivan, 5% in Ganja-Gazakh, 4.2% in Sheki-Zagatala, 3.5% in Lenkoran, 3.4% in Absheron, 2.8% in Guba-Khachmaz economic regions. The process of establishment of legal entities was more accelerated in Nakhchivan, Sheki-Zagatala, Mountainous Shirvan, Guba-Khachmaz, Aran economic regions and Baku.

74.1% of all enterprises operating throughout the country were small enterprises and most of them operate in the fields of trade (42.1%) and agriculture (16.2%). 56.7% of small enterprises operate in Baku, 12.4% in Aran, 6% in Absheron, 6% in Ganja-Gazakh, 5.4% in Lenkoran and other economic regions.
