06 April 2006 [09:20] - Today.Az
The Antimonopoly Policy Department of the Ministry of Economic Development plans to complete the monitoring of the cellular phone market on April 10.

According to the director of the Department Rahim Huseynov, the monitoring conducted since the second week of March was started due to complaints received from consumers in 2005.

Consumers mostly complained about unwarranted sale of cellular phones: "Cellular phones in the market are divided into two categories at present: phones with warranty and phones without warranty. Because cellular phones are high-technology products, it is absolutely inadmissible to sell them without warranty. We have started our investigation in this connection. We revealed that very cheap and substandard cellular phones are imported to the country."

The head of the Department said that the list of 'traders' selling poor-quality phones in the market and those using brands of world's companies is known.

However, for the time being, he does not consider appropriate to announce the list: "First of all, we identify companies operating in the market. We go to those places and demand documents from them. They present us documents whether they use foreign trademarks officially or illegally. Because submittal of documents has not been completed yet, I do not want to say anything now."

Mr.Huseynov also noted that the results of the monitoring will be comprehensively announced after April 10, APA informed.

Referring to the results of the monitoring, those companies will be given instructions to re-organize their activity in illegal form and ensure warranted sale of cellular phones.
