Azerbaijan plans to transport over 3 million tons of oil in 2006 against 4,1 million tons in 2005 through the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline, the head of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Industry and Energy (MIE), Natig Aliyev said in a statement to journalists today.

According to Trend, pumping of over 3 million tons of oil the MIE head explained by the fact, that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline was scheduled to be commissioned and the maximal oil volumes were to be used for this route, however, for today the project is delaying. "The oil pipeline commissioning has been scheduled already and in case no surprises happen the first tanker will leave on May 27, 2006," he was quoted as saying.
