Some 10,070 cars worth $97.69 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-April, 2014, the Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) reported.

During this period, the specific weight of commodities belonging to this category stood at 51.84 percent within the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan.

The export of cars from Georgia fell by 19.04 percent or by 2,430 cars compared to the same period of 2013. About 12,500 cars worth $120.66 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-April 2013.

A decrease in car supplies to Azerbaijan is linked with the country's transition to the environmental standard of Euro-4. Implementation of this standard started from April 1, 2014. Introduction of the Euro-4 significantly restricts the imports of used cars which constitute a large part of car imports from Georgia to Azerbaijan.

Some 1,250 trucks worth $8 million were exported to Azerbaijan during the reporting period. This figure is 3.49 percent or 240 cars more than in January-April, 2013.

Roughly 1,010 trucks worth $7.73 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-April 2013.

Cars are delivered to Georgia from abroad.
