28 March 2014 [14:42] - Today.Az
Regarding the application of the Euro-4 ecological standards for
vehicles since April 1, 2014, the State Committee for Standardisation,
Metrology and Patents made changes to the state standard AZS 636-2012
'Road transport. Environmental classes', the committee reported on March
28
The report notes that changes were made to the content of the
concordances table of the environmental class of cars depending on the
country and year of production.
In accordance with a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of
Azerbaijan, in order to reduce the emission of pollutants by vehicles
and improve the environmental situation in the country the Euro-4
ecological standard will be applied to imported and manufactured
vehicles in Azerbaijan since April 1, 2014.
As the head of the State Committee Ramiz Hasanov said earlier, the
decision on applying the Euro-4 ecological standard is related to the
growth of car imports to the country which negatively affects the
environment and public health.
The committee head said that around 100,000 cars were imported into the
country, over 50,000 of which were used cars. These figures were equal
to 64,000 and 27,000 respectively in 2011.
