Equipment in five stations of Baku Metro will be modernized (from Nizami to Memar Ajami),

Sergei Romanets, Thales (France) Director for development of business in security and transport in Russia and CIS states, told APA-Economics.

He said the company is actively cooperating with Baku Metro.

“Currently, Azerbaijan is the major direction for us. Baku Metro is rapidly developing and interested in the use of modern technologies," he said.

Sergei Romanets said equipment will be modernized in five stations within 12-18 months. Equipment will also be modernized in Darnagul depot, which is under construction, and pink line stations. Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system and security doors will be installed in these stations. This will allow reducing the interval between trains by 60 seconds and improving security. CBTC system for every station will cost €1-1.5 million.

Thales has offices in 65 countries.
