The Azerbaijani-Italian “Akkord-Todini-Impregilo” Joint Venture has won the tender to implement road construction works under the CAREC III Corridor, “Shymkent - Tashkent” Project in Kazakhstan. Akkord Corporation is the main stakeholder of JV with participating interest 50%. The Project is financed by the Asian Development Bank.

The relevant contract on “Rehabilitation of Almaty-Korday-Blagoveshenka-Merke-Tashkent-Termez Road” Section km705 to km742 (37.5km) was signed with the Committee of Roads, Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Price of the signed Contract is 82.2 mln U.S. Dollars with possibility of Contract Price increase during implementing of the works.

The scope of works will be carried out on the road divided into two sections. The first section includes 30 km covering two lanes in one direction, while the second one 44 km covering two lanes in one direction. Overall duration for completion is 2,5 years.

This is the third project that Akkord Corporation is implementing in Kazakhstan.
It must be noted that Akkord Corporation is acting as General Contractor in 2 lots in Kazakhstan under the “Western Europe – Western China” International Transit Corridor project. This Project is financed by European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and the Employee is Committee of Roads, Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan, too.
